Vitamin E (Tocopherol)
Composition: Vitamin E contains 8 molecules, including 4 tocopherols. Alpha-tocopherol, mainly extracted from sunflowers, is the most active and is used in cosmetics.
Cosmetic properties,
· Powerful antioxidant and anti-free radical action . Neutralizes free radicals, protects the skin from oxidative stress and prevents premature skin aging.
· Moisturizing & protective of the skin barrier : Stabilizes cell membranes and lipids of the epidermis. Limits transepidermal water loss (TEWL).
· Anti-inflammatory & restorative: Soothes irritation, redness, itching. Promotes the healing of dry or irritated skin (after sun, scars, stretch marks).
· Photoprotective (indirect): Strengthens the skin's defense against UV rays (complements sun protection, but does not replace sun filters).
